If you are a person who can’t imagine having the time to meditate, cringes at the thought of Stopping and Sitting for 30 – 40 minutes then these 5 – 9 minute meditations are perfect. Each Tuesday a new meditation will be posted for you to practice during the week. Allow yourself to be surprised at how easy they become. The outcome for these 5 – 9 minutes is to reduce stress and to create space where you can feel, hear and respond from within, rather than be out fire fighting.
We begin the series by creating a foundation. One that will hold your body and mind when its all rock and roll.
Foundation – Mindfulness
Very simple. Find a place where you will not be disturbed by external distractions. Set a timer for 5- 9 minutes, whichever feels achievable for you in this moment.
Either lie down or be upright in a chair, though if you find yourself drifting off to sleep, shift position to sitting up. Close your eyes, then begin the foundation practice by feeling into your body and mind.
Notice and experience any physical sensations, thoughts, emotions and allowing them to just be. Its this simple. You are connecting back to yourself, maybe for the first time today, give yourself this time to just BE.
As a thought arises, let it fall away to the ground. Let go of any need to judge, sort it all out, plan or fix.
